Weekend Greetings (aug 20, 2005)

How thick is your forest? How cloudy are the skies hanging over your head? This cross is seen rising up out of nowhere in the forest that surrounds the Roman Catholic Munakata Mokusou No Ie (House of Prayer).

When I took this picture, I thought of how we can become so bogged down that we aren’t able to see the forest for the limbs, or the stars for the clouds. Then I remembered that no matter how bad things might get, we have the resurrection power of the Holy Ghost living in us. He enables us to rise above everything that might come against us.

“I can do all things through Christ (the Holy Ghost) who strengthens me.”  Philippians 4:13

Jesus said to Paul on the road to Damascus, “But RISE, and STAND UPON your feet, for I have appeared unto you for this purpose: to make you a minister and a witness of the things you have seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto you. I’ll deliver you from the people and from the Gentiles unto whom I now send you: to open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness (their forests) to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.” Acts 26:16-18

You might be wondering, “What good am I in the world?” Well, God has chosen you to minister, to witness the love of God, to open the eyes of someone and see their darkness turned to the light of Jesus, the Christ.

Why not rise up out of your forest and begin towering into the sky of these possibilities this weekend.
