One of the most famous intersections between the metropolis cities of Fukuoka and Kita Kyushu is in the city of Koga. Thousands of people go through it everyday from four directions. The intersection is named: 流れ（na-ga-re), or in English “a flow(ing), a watercourse, a stream or a current.”
Looking at this character, the left radical shows water (シ）flowing as a river （川）on the lower right. The character in the upper right is that of an inverted baby（子）in the womb of its mother. The character is explained this way — When a child （子） is born, water（シ） (amniotic fluid = 羊水） flows from the mother’s womb as a small river （川）.
In the world we are upside down, in darkness and confined until we are born again and into the Kingdom of Light. Cf. Genesis 1:2-3.
“And the earth (womb) was/is without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep (amniotic fluid). And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters (amniotic fluid). And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.” 「地（胎内）は形がなく、何もなかった。やみが大いなる水（羊水）の上にあり、神の霊は水（羊水）の上を動いていた。そのとき、神が「光よ。あれ。」と仰せられた。すると光ができた。」
